As a final tune-up for the PSLE, we will also be running a variety of PSLE preparation programmes over the September holiday.

Each programme has 5 lessons, Monday to Friday, with lessons being 2 hours daily.

The programmes are designed to gear pupils up for key components of the PSLE and give them an edge in their exam preparation.

English Usage Tips: Vocabulary

VOCABULARY

 

  • hand in OR hand up?

Incorrect: I somehow managed to hand up the assignment on time. 

Correct: I somehow managed to hand in the assignment on time. 

When you give a piece of written work to a teacher, you hand it in: ‘Remember to hand in your exercise books before leaving the room.’

 

 

 

  • fetch OR take?

Incorrect: Eventually, I had to get a taxi to fetch me to the hospital.

Correct: Eventually, I had to get a taxi to take me to the hospital.

If you fetch someone, you go somewhere to get them and then bring them back again: ‘At what time do you fetch your children from school?’

 

 

 

  • raise OR raise up?

Incorrect: The government wishes to raise up the standard of health.

Correct: The government wishes to raise the standard of health.

Adding up after raise is redundant.

 

2017 PSLE Intensive Programmes: Jun

As part of the PSLE preparatory process, we will also be running a variety of PSLE intensive preparation programmes over the June holiday.

Each programme has 5 lessons, Monday to Friday, with lessons being 2 hours daily. All programmes have four start dates: 29 March, 5 June, 12 June and 19 June.

The programmes are designed to gear pupils up for key components of the PSLE and give them an edge in their exam preparation. The Maths Intensive will focus on topics such as Area and Perimeter, Whole Numbers/Fractions, Percentage, Speed and Ratio.

N2-P1 Storytelling & Craft Session

Come and enjoy a one-hour storytelling and craft session on the book The Watermelon Seed – a story about a crocodile whose greatest fear is materialised when he swallows a watermelon seed. Admission is free!

 

P3 to P6 Maths Holiday Programme

Targeted topics have been chosen for these revision sessions which are geared towards preparing your child for their Maths SA1.

Parent Workshop on Writing

Come and find out what makes writing “good” and what the traits of good writing are. Our founder, Mrs June Imada Lee, is a Reading Specialist and an English expert on writing, phonics and reading. She has conducted numerous education-related talks for parents, as well as conducts Teacher Development workshops in schools. In this workshop, Mrs Lee will be sharing with attendees the core skills primary students need to have in narrative writing.

N2-P1 Storytelling & Craft Session

Come and enjoy a one-hour storytelling and craft session on the book Hop, Hop, Kangaroo – a story about a young kangaroo on a journey to look for his ‘hop’. Admission is free!

 

K2-P1 Superheroes Writing Programme

Does your child have difficulty expressing himself/herself in writing? Taught in a safe and encouraging environment, pupils will learn how to write creatively on the theme of Superheroes. They will learn how to brainstorm descriptive words and phrases before putting their ideas into writing.  Using interactive activities such as storytelling, dramatisation and kinaesthetic games , pupils will have fun as they unleash their creative juices and expand their vocabulary.

 

P2 Junior Detective Writing Workshop

Want your child to learn how to create suspense in their writing? Pupils will have fun making use of their imagination and applying detective skills to solve a variety of mysterious scenarios. Using role play, effective writing techniques and descriptive details, pupils will learn to imbue suspense in their writing and create endings with a twist.

 

P3 to P5 Holiday Camps

An intensive English and Maths camp designed to give your child a head start for next year, the camp focuses on writing, oral and Maths problem-solving heuristics. Pupils may chose to come for any combination of these 3 components of the camp.
