P5 Literature Programme: Sing to the Dawn

Students learnt to appreciate the essential elements of literature i.e. character, setting, plot, conflict, resolution, symbolism, imagery, etc. through the novel Sing to the Dawn. The story is told through the eyes of a young village girl in Thailand as she fights prejudice, frustrations and hardship to continue her education.

P6 Writing Skills Programme

In this programme, students were taught key writing skills. For example, how to write captivating Story Starters, developed Story Middles, and satisfying Story Endings. The course imparted strategies to students to create interesting characters and feature conflict / problems and solutions in their stories. To add spice to the compositions, students were taught to use sensory-descriptive details, figurative language and ‘showing’ instead of ‘telling’ sentences in their writing.

P2 Reading Programme (Farrer Park Primary)

“Ready, Get Set, Go!”, one of our popular and comprehensive reading programmes that enables pupils to become better readers, was recently conducted in Farrer Park Primary School.

Through fun activities such as playing games and dramatisation, the pupils learnt how to apply basic phonics rules, increase their word power through the study of  word families and develop their proficiency in reading.

P5 Journalism Programme (Xingnan Primary)

A group of Xingnan Primary pupils who were identified by their teachers as good writers, had a taste of being journalists through our Upper Primary Journalism Programme recently!  They learnt how to ‘sniff out’ newsworthy stories, how to interview people and how to draft news stories as well as feature articles.  The pupils gained practical experience and many of them unleashed their creative side, while publishing their newsletter.

See how engrossed they are in the photos below!
